I have over 24 years of experience in traffic engineering, road safety, asset management and heavy vehicle research. I joined O'Brien Traffic in 2018 as a Senior Traffic Engineer after 16 years with the Australian Road Research Board, where I worked across the road safety, heavy vehicles and road asset management disciplines. I was heavily involved in the creation of the Australian Road Assessment Program (AusRAP) and its international incarnation, iRAP, as well as other expert system tools for identifying hazardous road environments and prioritising their treatment.
My career has encompassed municipal traffic management, urban planning, parking assessments, road safety research, truck instrumentation and simulation, project evaluation, road asset management, and large-scale estimation of vehicle operating costs and road user costs. I am an accredited Performance Based Standards (PBS) Vehicle Assessor and Certifier, and one of the leaders of O’Brien Traffic’s PBS vehicle assessment team.
I am motivated by the aim of improving the sustainability of our cities and towns through the responsible use of transport.
